Virginia requires each new student to be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, mumps, measles (rubeola) and German measles (rubella) A second measles shot is required for students entering the system for the first time. One of the doses for polio vaccine and diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough are required after age 4.
